Glock A.r. 15 - For once, the rumors of a new firearm from Glock — not just a new model, but an entirely new non-gun platform — appear to be true! Anyone who's fancied a Photoshopped Glock 1911 or Glock carbine or rifle and was more upset that they couldn't buy one than embarrassed, better rearrange their gun buying budget ASAP to make room for their first Glock AR. But there is no rush; looks like you're having a good time.
Last week, photos began circulating on social media showing an FDE AR-style carbine with combat accessories and a Glock logo on the lower receiver. Of course, half the internet fell for the pants while the other half started chanting, “Fake! Fake!"

Today, The Firearm Blog (TFB) reports that the photos are indeed of a Glock AR carbine and that they received confirmation of this fact directly from the Austrian gun manufacturer.

Glock ARs have been rumored for years, but the pictured GR-115F firearm appears to be the real deal.
Sources who originally leaked the two images said the weapon was linked to British military requirements, which remain shrouded in mystery. The TFB reports that this is likely "related to the UK's current program to adopt a new AR-style rifle for newly formed Ranger regiments in place of the UK's standard-issue SA80/L85 bullpup rifles".
But why would a European government go to Glock for an AR when there are already other companies like FN and SIG
Proven ARs – and why Glock would choose here and now to enter the carbine game – is anyone’s guess.

In the spring of 2021, when everyone was last excited about the possibility of a Glock AR, reports surfaced of patents that Glock had filed for some interesting firearm features unrelated to the Glock pistol, such as a mid-length annular gas piston, as well as some AR similar shapes. One patent was for a quick-change barrel mechanism.
Design drawings showed a double-sided, fixed charging handle above the barrel, but as we can see from the leaked images, this new Glock AR carbine appears to have a standard mil-spec charging handle on the rear of the receiver.
While the Glock AR may finally be real, don't expect it to be unveiled at SHOT Show 2023 in January or to hit retailers any time soon.
Glock confirmed to TFB that the carbine was designed for a military call – possibly more than one – saying, “Glock is always developing future products and technologies in the pursuit of perfection. The shared image is of a product developed for individual issues and is not currently available for the general market.

If TFB is correct and this carbine is for the UK Range Rifle, the range will be announced next year - if Glock wins, we'll know a lot more about this mystery carbine. If they don't, it may end up in Glock vaults forever, or we may see a civilian version soon after, only time will tell.
